Guest presenter:
Anthony Szatow
of
CSIRO
on the role of distributed energy networks in achieving emissions reductions in Australia.
Anthony works for CSIRO's Energy Division which recently released a major report titled Intelligent Grid: A value proposition for wide scale distributed energy solutions in Australia.
The report examines in detail the role and value of distributed energy use in Australia. It found that up to $130bn of investment will be required into distributed energy solutions for Australia by 2020 to meet Australia's obligations under a global 450ppm CO2e stabilisation target. Another key finding was that through a combination of distributed energy technologies and renewables, water usage associated with energy generation could be reduced by up to 75 per cent in Australia.
This session will provide an alternative and compelling view as to what the development of energy markets and infrastructure may look like for Australia over the next 40 years.
